Asking “R U OK” is to say that it’s normal to not feel OK sometimes. Especially in these unsettling times, it’s ever more important that we all promote a sense of community, reach out and ask someone: “Are you OK?”
During times of uncertainty and possible isolation, you can be supportive of your staff by offering them information and access to health care professionals who are better equipped to manage the situation.

- Trust your gut and ask them: “Are you OK?”
- Listen with an open mind to what they have to say and ask them what you can do to help.
- There might be limits on what you can do but you can still lend an ear or a (virtual) shoulder to lean on.

In the words of “R U OK” founder Gavin Larkin, “Getting connected and staying connected is the best thing any of us can do, both for ourselves and anybody who may be at risk. That said, it’s not just about those at risk, we want everybody in Australia, right across the spectrum of society, to reach out to the people in their lives that they care about and essentially let them know that they do care by asking R U OK?”
Here are some resources with a wealth of information to help cope with COVID-19 and mental health issues that arise from this situation. These also provide sound advice on how to support yourself and the people around you through this crisis.
